The month is coming to a close, leaving behind one our most dynamic and compelling monthly themes Photography behind us. At NH Hoteles we can’t get enough of the many dimentions and concepts the field of photography has offer and the fact that snapshots and memories of travel experiences are ones to be treasured forever. In other words, this monthly theme wouldn’t be the same without a dedication to one our very own NH Hoteles’ photographer. We had the great opportunity to discover the passion and excitement behind what drives one of our very own employees to dedicate her free time to photography. Meet photographer Agnese Eva Montecchi!
Agnese Eva Montecchi, restaurant collaborator at NH Villa Carpegna in Rome, has an incredible Flickr gallery and website filled with inspiring shots of travel destinations, lush landscapes, and galloping horses. She claims she is inspired by feelings and has been defined as an “emotional photographer”. The need to excite the spectator is the best reward she receives for her work.
She is an all around artist who mentions that her passion for photography started when she began painting. Photography has somewhat served as her travel-mate by providing her with visual memories of trips around the world. Since 2007, Agnese has taken pictures in a different way, where each image describes a moment, an emotion and infinite sensations.
When asked what make or model of cameras she trusts most to capture her most inspiring moments, she answered:
“Mainly Canon, even if I’ve collaborated as “Imageloger” with Samsung for NX series and so I also have a NX10. My lens are 18-55mm/30mm/20-50mm.”
In terms of special techniques, we were curious to know if she has any of her own to share with us:
“There’s no perfect shot and/or special techniques to get a perfect shot. I like to follow the idea by Henri Cartier-Bresson: ‘It’s an illusion that photos are made with the camera… they are made with eyes, heart and head’ Anyway, I prefer the manual photography in my camera, the only adjustments are the black and white balance, contrast and saturation. Sometimes I also work to delete only relevant noises in my pictures.”
We were also dying to know who her favourite photographer is and, she confesses, it was difficult for her to pick just one, she says:
“I have many favorites yet I’m fascinated by the photo reporter Steve McCurry. His last exhibition in Rome was a fantastic voyage of portraits and life, pain… images made by the heart. A first-row photographer… ”
And last but not least we asked her if she could travel anywhere in the world to take photos, where would she go? She explains:
“A question containing the answer… everywhere! I love to travel, meet new faces as well as to risk in adventures. But I also like the loneliness of some places… In this moment I’m enchanted by skyscrapers and slums of North and South America and by Afghanistan. But every place in the world is to discover… in the light and in the dark!”
It was definitely an honor to get to know what lies beneath the inspiration of our very own photographers! Thank you Agnese for sharing it with us and the community!
