Pillow Fight Day! Sound crazy? You be the judge

Does making a mess and whacking strangers with a pillow sound like fun? On Saturday, April 5th, in cities around the world there will be massive pillow fights. One of the largest is organized in London so if you happen to be there why not join the fun as strangers clutch their pillows and battle one another in the 6th International Pillow Fight Day.

The first of it´s kind was organized by Kevin Bracken and Lori Kufner who explain the event as: “a building block to spread free and fun events to every corner of the world.” People come dressed in their pyjamas, dressing gowns or decked out in eccentric bedtime outfits. And they come equipped with their soft (soft is the key word to remember) pillows. If you don´t have one handy or prefer not to ruin your own, there are souvenir pillows you can purchase at the event and you´ll be doing some good as part of the proceeds go to charity.

To get a better idea of what to expect, make sure you watch this awe-inspiring video filmed at Trafalgar Square in London.

So, are you ready to recreate your childhood pillow fights in the heart of the British capital? Just be aware of the rules: Whacking someone who is unarmed with a pillow or when taking a picture is a big no-no. Also, remember to bring along a plastic bag so you can help clean the mess afterwards.

Once you´re in London, check into the NH Harrington Hall or the NH Kensington, two 4-star hotels that will be perfect to get ready for the fight and welcome you when you return.  The NH Harrington Hall is centrally located in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. You´ll be close to the trendy shopping district of Knightsbridge where you can indulge in the many restaurants, bars and boutiques. After the pillow fight you might want to relax and visit the Natural History Museum or the Victoria and Albert. It´s a nice Spring day, you might prefer to organize a fun delicious picnic at Hyde Park. If the pillow fight has worn you down, the best thing you can do is enjoy the sauna back at the hotel and if you´re up to it, indulge in fabulous dinner at the world-class restaurant and bar.  Too tired? Take a relaxing shower or bath, kick back and order your favourite meal by calling room service, available 24 hours a day.

The four-star stylish NH Kensington in London is another great place where to begin your perfect city getaway. Near major cultural institutions, restaurants and nightlife, the NH Kensington Hotel is minutes away from Sloane Square, where you´ll be able to shop till you drop.  Need to get to the other side of town? The hotel is just a short walk away from the Earl´s Court tube stop with easy access to get to and from Heathrow and Gatwick airports.

After the Pillow Fight, back in your room, you might just be able to watch yourself on the news on your flat-screen TV while you enjoy the plush, 25 centimetre-thick mattress.  Elegant al fresco meals are served in the Garden Lounge Bar and the restaurant offers exquisite dining and cocktails.

Whether you´re in London for business or leisure, make sure you mark the day on your calendar and bring along your camera. Without the proof of pictures, it´ll be hard to get your friends and family to believe you.
