This spring Amsterdam will look even more extraordinary!

As we anticipated, 2016 is going to be a great year for NH Hotel Group. This month we’re celebrating our NH Collection brand launching in Amsterdam with 3 extraordinary hotels in key locations of the city, very close from one another. All of them within easy walking distance of Amsterdam’s best museums, sights and famous shopping streets.

Open since the 4th March, the oldest and most famous hotel in the city is our new NH Collection Doelen. A small wonder that everyone from Queen Victoria to the Beatles have enjoyed in the past years. As an interesting fact, De Nachtwacht (The Night Watch) was actually painted by Rembrandt on the first floor of this mesmerizing hotel. Lots of history within its walls!

A magnificent historic building that dates back to 1855 that enjoys exceptional views of the Royal Palace, that’s our fully refurbished NH Collection Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky. Located in the main square of the city, our five starred hotel has a great covered terrace in which many royal family dinners have been conducted.

By Amsterdam Central Station you’ll find our NH Collection Barbizon Palace in a building dating back to the 17th century, close to the museums and shops. Elsewhere, the beautiful St Olof’s Chapel regents a pop-up restaurant called Roomservice at Olof’s that belongs to the hotel, where the dishes are all about vegetables and herbs – you order fish and meat as a side dish! The restaurant is managed by one Star Michelin Chris Naylor and it’ll be open until 30th of April. They also have a cocktailbar inspired on King Charles II, a charcuterie-bar with tapas of Brandt & Levie and a Vermuteria, the very first vermouthbar of the Netherlands!

It is often said that spring is the best season to visit Amsterdam. Tulips bloom in a thousand colors, and parks and terraces are crowded. Head to the Keukenhof Gardens between the months of March to May to see the tulip fields at its best, or participate in the Tulip Festival, an annual event that takes place in April.

If you happen to be in Amsterdam on 27th of April don’t forget to bring an orange outfit with you. That’s how they celebrate Koningsdag (King’s Day), a national festivity that gets together millions of people. Thousands of ornately decorated boats cram the narrow canals of Amsterdam. The best thing to being in one of these boats is to observe – and dance – from any of the many bridges in Amsterdam. Many festivals and events take place in the city this day so its’s definitely a not-to-be-missed experience.

Amsterdam has lots of plans for you this spring. Come and enjoy all the greatness this country has to offer! More info at our Press Room!
