One of the pleasures of travelling is finding that special gift, discovering something you wouldn´t be able to find elsewhere or simply indulging in bargain shopping. Globalization and chain stores however, make the task difficult. Luckily, there are still places in the world where shopping is fun, easy and where you can still find that special something without spending your life´s savings. When it comes to shopping with style and choosing the best destinations to do so, we´ve considered bargain opportunities, getting around, variety and experience. The assignment wasn´t easy as we´ve had to leave out many great shopping destinations such as Melbourne, Dubai, Tokyo, London and Barcelona. Here is our list of the 6 best shopping routes in the world.

Milan, Italy

Milan is considered Italy´s fashion capital and the Quadrilatero della Moda in Milan is by far the best fashion district in the city with it´s pedestrian streets packed with boutiques and showrooms. Names such as Prada and Dolce & Gabbana were born in Milan, a city where there are plenty of outlets and second-hand stores where you can discover real treasures. Madrid, Spain

According to the Globe Shopper Index, Madrid ranks third for best prices on luxury items. Travellers seeking to save some money on these type of goods are encouraged to spend their time strolling thru the 19th century palace Jardín de Serrano and Serrano Street, full of small shops and cool designers. The entire Salamanca district is where you´ll find the top luxury brands and the charming Las Salesas neighbourhood offers shoppers chic boutiques and designer workshops.
