Have you ever fell in love with a film? Everyone loves a great love story, and most would agree that watching our most beloved destinations on the big screen is sure to get even the most faint-hearted dreaming of their next romantic escape. Take a look at some of these dreamy film destinations that have been the backdrop to some of the most cherished love stories of all time!

Roman Holiday

The exuberant, chaotic, and refined city of Rome was the backdrop to one of the most alluring romantic comedies of all time. Roman Holiday (1953) depicts the story of a charming runaway Princess Ann (Audrey Hepburn) who becomes tired of the confined life of royalty and escapes to the rustle and bustle of the big city. While escaping her palace one magical night, she meets the strapping young American Joe Bradley (Gregory Peck) who would be her handsome counterpart in showing her a whole new exciting world outside the palace doors. Their journey through Rome would be seen by zooming down cobblestone streets together on a Vespa, eating sumptuous Gelato and taking playful snapshots. The breathtaking Bocca della Verita “Mouth of Truth”, Church of Santa Maria in Cosmedin, Piazza Bocca della Verita and Scalinata della Trinità dei Monti also known as The Spanish Steps are all real life props in this timeless fairy tale

If you’re looking to relive the similar sparks and magic seen between Princess Ann and Joe Bradley then take a look at the The NH Villa Carpegna hotel in Rome. Nestled in in a quiet area, just a few kilometers away from the historical center and within easy reach of the Vatican and St. Peter’s Square, NH Villa Carpegna offers  an exciting alternative for your stay in Rome. Lying just outside the bustling centre, this romantic hotel provides the perfect balance between city life and suburban tranquility. During the warm summer months, guests can also lie back, relax and take a dip in the large swimming pool.

Amélie

Amélie Poulard was the shy, quirky, yet captivating Parisian girl that stole all of our hearts back in 2001 by helping those around her through small tokens and gestures. Along her way she finds love in an utmost mysterious way with a photo booth tech named Nino Quiencampoix. Taking place in the Montmartre district, the film is full of whimsical colorful scenes of the daily life of Amélie working in the Café des Deux and the many obscure and exuberant characters she meets along the way. In fact, if you’re looking to step right onto the set of this enchanting love story, don’t miss the many walking tours through the very locations where all the magic took place!

On the more luxurious side of Paris, you can make your visit to the city of love complete with a stay at Jolly Hotel Lotti which is ideally situated between the place Vendôme and the Tuileries Gardens, the Louvre Museum, the Opera House and the rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré. It’s also a hotel with history in the making where since 1910, the Hotel Lotti in Paris has always been more than just a prestigious address. It is the embodiment of hospitality and a hotel in which luxury blends magnificently with discretion by providing you with a delightful stay in an elegant and relaxing atmosphere.

Love Actually

If you look for it, I’ve got a sneaky feeling you’ll find that love actually is all around.”

Love Actually (2003) may seem like a blast from the past but every year during Christmas and Valentine’s Day, millions of hopeless romantics relive the story of eight intertwined couples through the ups and downs of their relationships giving hope to all that “love actually” is all around us. London Town was chosen as the backdrop for this romantic comedy and while it’s generally not thought of a typical romanic destination, just seeing the scene of the charming neighborhood of Notting Hill where the lovestruck character Mark declares his love with cue cards to Juliet, is sure to captivate us forever.

Go head over heals all over again with your sweetheart at the spectacular NH Harrington Hall and surround yourself with timeless monuments and trendy shopping districts. Centrally located in Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, the hotel is surrounded by historic structures, famous cultural institutions, and streets teeming with restaurants, bars, and boutiques. Cultivate a deeper appreciation of nature with a trip to the nearby Natural History Museum, or with a sumptuous picnic in Hyde Park or Kensington Gardens.

These are just a few of the fascinating destinations to be found in our favorite films on the big screen. Do you have a favorite film destination?
