Want to keep fit? Golf till you drop in Southern Europe

A golf break is the distressing holidays you are looking for

Golf may have its origins in the cold lands of Scotland but let’s be serious, who would like to golf in the Highlands in the middle of January? Let’s prevent your cubs from getting frozen and travel south, like birds. Southern Europe is going to have another mild winter with temperatures that invite you to have the best golf break ever.

Golf is one of the best sports you could ever practice. It may not be the most intense one but what’ not to like about walking a beautiful golf course while showing everybody how good you are at hitting the ball?

Golfing for the 18 holes can burn up to 2,000 calories, if you walk and carry your own bag for the whole 4 hours. It’s usually compared to the physical exercise done when walking 5 miles. However, the calorie burning is halved if you opt for riding the best vehicle ever, a golf cart. Why aren’t they allowed on highways? Anyway, golfing is found guilty for improving our health and muscle tone, and it’s consider the right sport to shift to as you age and don’t feel like going to the gym anymore.

Golfing benefits go beyond bettering your physical health conditions. It’s a very powerful distressing activity -just you and maybe some golf fellows- and the court. If you choose to golf in one of NH luxury golf resort in Southern Europe you could also be enjoying the best views, food and accommodation.

Truth is at NH Hoteles we love golf so much we’ve built the best courts ever, with the help of golf course architects -and former Ryder Cups winners- like Dave Thomas at the best locations in Sicily and Cadiz, in Southern Spain. Spring-like temperatures in the middle of December, all the comfort and top quality from NH hotels and the best golf courts are waiting for you.

Sotogrande is a luxury holiday resort located in the most beautiful part of the Coast of Cadiz, which beaches are year after year selected as British traveler’s choice in Spain and where the Ryder Cup usually takes place in Europe. NH Hotels boasts two state-of-the-art resorts built in the naive and lovely Andalusian architecture, with four-starred hotels and golf courts in Sotogrande, perfect to upgrade your golf break: NH Almenara and NH Sotogrande.

NH Almenara Golf Resort

Since the very moment you arrive at NH Almenara you know you made the right choice for your distressing holidays; a beautiful building in the quietest setting, surrounded by golf courts and Mediterranean pine forests. And you don’t even have to hit the court to enjoy a relaxing time because the astonishing pool at NH Almenara is built so close to the sea you can listen to the waves breaking gently against the beach; actually your beach, as it’s a private one.

NH Sotogrande Golf Resort

At NH Sotogrande, the decor is minimal and elegant but so well planned it’s warm and inviting; you feel relaxed just by having a look around, and if you don’t wake up with a golfing mood, NH Sotogrande Resort is known for its many sports facilities and restaurants, including a Beach Club that is just perfect for recovering after golfing all morning long. Don’t forget to order some traditionally grilled sardines or some other fish or seafood, it’s amazing here.

Donnafugata Golf Resort & Spa

NH Donnafugata Golf Resort & Spa is the most luxury golf accommodation in Sicily. This large island in the south of Italy is famous for its overwhelming landscapes and perfectly preserved cities and monuments –almost every corner of Sicily is UNESCO World Heritage. Donnafugata Resort makes honor to this as it is a modern fully-equipped resort but built on a traditional Sicilian manor but with historic preservation in mind. As in Sotogrande, five-starred Donnafugata Resort is set by the shore, so you’ll be having a delicious breakfast by the beach, getting ready for golfing till you drop in any of the two pro golf courses: Parkland Signature Course, designed by Gary Player, and Championship Course, designed by Franco Piras.

Gold resort always connects with luxury in my mind. I think Golf Resort should be place where you can just relax, and enjoy the weekend with your friends, without worrying or organizing too many things for your own good. everything should be already organized for you. This is why I like Donnafugata golf Resort and spa.

The course looks fantastic to play and has the best greens to complement a true Scottish links golf course. I am told that even in the winter months, the course is in fantastic condition. This is one course a golf party or visiting golfers will need to include. What is the Measuring yards? might be it is relatively easy but with fast greens, strategically placed bunkers and gorse on a number of holes this is by no means an easy task even for the lower handicap golfer:D Definitely not a course to be missed on any golf touring party’s itinerary.
